I think you mean the greater Santa Cruz area. This bookstore is not in San Jose (not even close, actually). San Jose is 45 min drive over the hill in the valley. Santa Cruz and Capitola are both costal towns.

if you are heading down south i would recommend capitol book & news in montgomery, al and sundog books in seaside, florida (seaside is a reknown beach community located on hwy 30-a between panama city beach and destin).

I used to shop in the Vermont Book Shop all the time, before the renovation. Although the “modern” book shop is nice, the store pre-renovation was truly an iconic Vermont institution, and one that Middlebury’s main street misses a great deal. I still come in occasionally, and the staff is wonderful and helpful.

I am from the Daytime, F.A. Day Middle School’s student run newspaper. We have won the Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s gold crown award for middle school papers for the past ten years. We are currently running an article on Newtonville Books and how they are now closing the Lizard’s Tale portion of the store and converting it into a Used Book Annex, and wondered if we could use your photo.
