What does fifteen thousand poetry collections look like?  Well, in a room that’s the size of a medium office, it’s floor to ceiling bookcases.

Grolier Poetry is one of two poetry-only bookstores in America.  It opened in 1927 and has been frequented by pretty much all the major poets of the Twentieth Century.  It was a favorite of Eliot’s, Lowell’s, Hall’s, and Ginsberg’s.

The bookshop carries a lot of out-of-print titles, has a strong following, and should be on any poetry lover’s stop in Boston.

  1. I finally made it in to Grolier’s last week – it really is amazing how many books they’ve fit into such a small space. I’m just wondering what the other poetry-only store is, and where? Is it on your list to visit?
