One of Asheville, NC best-kept secrets is this independent bookstore in North Asheville.

Accent on Books has been in business for 26 years.  It’s a general trade bookstore, but with a special focus on religion, spirituality, and metaphysics.  If you’re interested in picking up fiction, you can.  If you’re interested in really expanding the discussion of consciousness, you can do that too.  It’s not a big store, but it is an interesting concept for a store and that, along with its customer service has allowed for its longevity.

There’re not too many sidelines here.  There’s no coffee shop.  There is, however, a Jungian discussion group every third Sunday, and there are Friday P1000923evening lectures with artists and writers.  Accent also does a lot of book catering events. There are also children’s books.  As the area around N. Asheville begins to age out and young families move in, Accent finds its children’s section growing more and more.

It’s a pleasant store and easy to find if you’re in the N. Asheville area.

  1. Thanks, Marc! It was nice to meet you–I enjoyed our talk. And since you were here, the landlord has repaved the parking lot, re-facaded (is that a word?)the front and generally made everything nicer. Now it’s time to plant some flowers…Hope you’re enjoying your tour.
